- In a large pot, boil water for pasta.
- In a smaller pot, start making a rue- Melt 1 tablespoon butter, add the flour and whisk until blended and thick. Whisk in 1 cup of milk and blend until creamy.
- Cut your cheese slices into smaller pieces for easy melting. Add yellow american cheese a few slices at a time- while whisking in.
- Melt 1/2 of the cheese, then add the remaining milk and butter by whisking in.
- Add remaining cheese in pieces, keep whisking.
- To make it more creamy, add additional milk.
- When your water starts to boil, add salt and pasta. Cook for 8 minutes, or until al dente.
- When done, strain pasta, leaving a little water in the pot.
- Add the cream sauce on top of pasta and stir.
